Man Kills wife and unborn child

Roger E. Holland found guilty early Tuesday morning (December 17th 2013) of killing his wife Marjorie Holland and her unborn child.
Holland was charged with two counts of first-degree premeditated murder and two counts of second-degree intentional murder. Jury debated their verdict for ten hours and came to the verdict of guilty. He will be serving two-consecutive life sentences without parole.
The early morning on March 7th 2013, R.Holland left to get him and his wife breakfast, he claims when he got back to the townhouse she was lying at the bottom of the stairs wrapped in a blanket, not breathing and unresponsive at 9:57 that morning he called 911 saying his wife was in cardiac arrest, the police, fire and medical teams all tried reviving M.Holland for an hour at the townhome and continued at the hospital before she was declared dead just before 11:30.
Hennepin County medical examiner who performed an autopsy on Marjorie state that she had bruises and abrasions all over her neck, arms, elbows, knees, and ankles. The first officer on the scene noticed that M.Holland had petechiae, which are tiny hemorrhages that can be caused by pressure on the neck. The medical examiner said that the cause of death was homicide by strangulation.
Later following the investigation on Roger E. Holland they found a web of lies he was telling his wife like that he had a high paying job when really he was unemployed and that he had recently maxed out all of Marjorie Holland’s credit cards. Fighting over text messages, the couple said some threatening things like that Marjorie said she was going to divorce R.Holland and turn him into the local authorities for maxing out all of her credit cards.
New evidence had been found in the investigation on R.Holland like that he had recently searched on his iphone and laptop on whether someone could break their neck by falling down the stairs, and if it was possible to break someone's neck with bare hands. Police also noticed scratches all over R.Hollands neck and face as if Marjorie put up a fight.
The couple had met in Texas as they were both serving for the National Guard. The couple moved to Minnesota in December of 2012, so Marjorie could be closer to her family, and as she was getting ready for the baby. Members of Margorie Holland's family spoke out to say that although they mourn the loss of their loved one and the anticipation of welcoming a new life, they hope Margorie's memory and voice will live on as they advocate against domestic violence toward women.
